2004 PPEA Futurity Festival Horse Shows August 28-29, 2004 Bedford County Fairgrounds, Bedford PA PHBA Judges: GEORGE ANDERS, Leesburg OH, MARY ANN FIELITZ, Arcbold OH, & SHANNON ZIMMER-RHINEER, Lampeter PA; IBHA Judges: GEORGE ANDERS, Leesburg OH, MARY ANN FIELITZ, Arcbold OH; Open Show Judge: CRYSTAL BYWATER, Everett PA PPEA's 2004 Futurity Festival drew horses from four states, with about 200 PHBA and IBHA class entries, and with thirteen entries in our various Futurity classes. In addition to our Palomino, Buckskin, and Futurity events one of the highlights of the weekend was the awards presentation of Lone Star Silver buckles to the All-Around and Reserve Champion Youths and Adults from our 2003 season. We indeed had a great group of competitors for this show, but sadly this time Mother Nature did not cooperate weather-wise. On Saturday, during our Open Show, several inches of rain poured in the Bedford area during severe lightning storms. We were able to finish the classes but many who planned to come to the show did not come, and many who braved to come left early. On Sunday we had one of this summer's hottest and most humid days. Fortunately the excellent drainage of the Bedford show arenas made it possible to have good footing on Sunday (take a look at the photos in the ring from Sunday; you can't believe all that rain fell the night before!) Thank You for that to the wonderful Bedford County Fair Junior Horse Ring Committee! And thank you to to all our wonderful exhibitors (again, from 4 states!); and to the helpers, judges, and sponsors who helped support our 2004 Futurity Festival despite the storms and steamy weather!
